Southeast Kansas Community Action Program (SEK-CAP)

SEK-CAP BuildingThe Southeast Kansas Community Action Program (SEK-CAP) operates Head Start in rural southeast Kansas, with a service area covering more than 7200 square miles. This rural service area includes six counties designated as medically underserved and counties with populations so sparse that the Federal government still considers them “Frontier”. SEK-CAP’s Head Start program serves 900 children and their families in both center and home based options along with fifteen partnered childcare providers. The Pyramid Model has been sustained throughout the program since 2001, and they have worked with CSEFEL as a Program in Excellence (PIE) to develop tools for the 3-5 Pyramid model. Children, age birth to three, and their families participate in Early Head Start in their home as well as in four centers.
